Bye July, Hello August!

I can’t believe July has gone so quickly. I didn’t even realise it was August until this morning. Anyway the song up there is really what most of my reading this month was: feel good reads. Well except for Fairest… And also I got a bit obsessed with Colbie Calliat…

Adorkable by Sarah Manning – which I didn’t review but really liked

Fairest by Melissa Meyer – it was obviously AMAZING

August To Reads

Really excited for August (especially for UNTIL FRIDAY NIGHT OMG SO EXCITED!!). Hopefully I’ll post some things that aren’t reviews this month XD How was your July? Tell me all about it!

TLDR Sundays #1

TLDR Sundays will be where I’ll write a super short recap of the week. This week was the first week back to school for me but I managed to get more reading done than I did in the holidays go figure. Also got addicted to Halsey who is the gif you see above.

Reviews:

The Ugly Stepsister by Aya Ling  – 4 bamboo sticks, have been rereading it like crazy

Into a Million Pieces by Angela V. Cook – 4 bamboo sticks, it was a plot you don’t think would work but works

Finished Reading:

Adorkable by Sarra Manning – not planning to make a review but it was really cute. Got frustrated with Jeane at times but overall she was awesome!

Fairest by Marissa Meyer – I have a lot to say about this one… oh just you wait

Currently Reading/Planning to Read

A Summer Like No Other by Elodie Nowodazkij – I’m about halfway, liking it so far

Storm by Amanda Sun – if I can ever find a copy

Song of the week:

Is There Somewhere – Halsey

You were dancing in your tube socks, in our hotel room

Flashing those eyes like highway signs

I was singing those two lines non stop for the whole week. Drove my friends crazy XD

So that’s all from me right now. Hope you guys had an awesome week! Tell me all about it down in the comments!

Shoutout to Red Adept Publishing for providing me a copy through Netgalley!

Allison McKready is a succubus. So is her twin sister. But while Allison spends her summer break hiding in the library behind her Goth makeup, Jade fools around as often as she can. Allison can’t believe Jade would ignore their mother’s fatal example so recklessly, but concealing a cursed bloodline and its dangerous effects is far from Allison’s only problem. Mean girl Julie’s snob mob is determined to ruin her summer, and Aunt Sarah’s Bible thumping is getting louder. Only her new friend, Ren Fisher, offers safe haven from the chaos of her life.

When one of Jade’s risky dates leads to humiliation and sudden tragedy, Allison reels, and Ren catches her. But as her feelings for him grow, so does her fear that she’ll hurt him—or worse—in an unguarded moment. The choice is coming—love him or save him—but Allison might not live to make it. One way or another, the curse will have its due.

WHAT? – The ending. I can honestly say I didn’t see it coming. And also just the whole subject matter. Succubi are probably the most sexual creatures you will ever come across which is not a really YA thing. But in A Million Miles Away, it totally worked! It had the teenage angst heightened with the whole succubi angst of not being able to have a romantic relationship.

YES! – I absolutely loved the whole succubi angst. It’s kinda like the whole “I can’t be with you because I want to eat you” Twilight thing but way better. The whole book had a lot of action from beginning to end. When you think nothing else can happen, the actions starts up again. It’s just great

UMM… – Why was it so short? Could’ve had way more than that for my taste. I felt like everything happened really quickly and suddenly everything was changing and I just couldn’t keep up sometimes.

But.. – The romance was super cute even if it kinda was instalove-ish. Any guy willing to risk his life everytime he kisses his girlfriend is all right in my books.

And so…

If you’re looking for something with a mix of contemporary and supernatural, this is the book for you. It’s got the cuteness you’d expect from a contemporary and it’s got the interesting problems supernaturals have. Really it’s the best of both genres!

What are your thoughts on this book? Have you read it or will read it?
