A book that finally lives up to the hype. I was beginning to lose hope. It’s amazing how real and unreal it could be at the same time. The whole book kind of reminded me of After Earth but way better and with a romance in it.

Like I said before, I’ve heard a lot of good things about These Broken Stars and I was pretty worried I was gonna hate it. Fortunately, this book is pure gold. The plot was action in parts but had the character development needed. Our main characters are freaking awesome and their romance didn’t feel forced. Lastly, the cover is so pretty.

I’m gonna start with the plot. It’s like Titanic – with a guy swoonier than Leonardo Di Caprio and a tough as nails Rose – in the future on a different planet. The book keeps you guessing at every page. The little interrogation scenes between each chapter really helped with the suspense. They also gave breathing space  to prevent the plot from being too heavy.

I’m in love with both Tarver and Lilac for different reasons. Tarver was just an overall great guy. He’s smart and doesn’t give up. However, I probably like Lilac better than him which is pretty surprising. Usually the guy is the one I fangirl over but here Lilac has my attention. I mean, she treks across an unknown planet with literally no experience for days and she does all that in a giant dress and heels. I don’t know how long I would last in heels in the wilderness. I can’t even walk in ballet flats without tripping over.

The amazing futuristic world it’s set in doesn’t hurt either. It literally pops out at you from the first page. The authors create a vivid world from the luxurious Icarus to the harsh wild planet while still being able to be realistic. It’s nice to have book that doesn’t have magic as the reason for everything. Maybe I should just read more sci-fi books… any recommendations?

Still crazy obsessed with High School Musical and is disappointed real life high school did not involve as much singing and dancing. Super cynical about Disney movies and kdramas but still loves them. Blogs about books and feels.

  1. As shallow as it sounds, this went on my ‘to-read’ list as soon as I saw the cover! After your great review I’m an eager beaver to read it even more now! 🙂
