Hits and Misses: Movie Tie-ins

Books are the stuff for movies right now. I mean, technically all the movies we watch now are either a) based from a book or b) based on a comic. You know what else is the stuff? Movie tie-ins. You know, those books that have been republished to have a totally different picture to match the movie. This topic can go both ways for me.

A tie- in that worked for me:

City of Bones – Cassandra Clare

City of Bones

This was cover I wished I had… if I hadn’t got the first three books of the series as ebooks. It looks pretty, it looks eerie, it reflects the story inside it and it’s able to hint that the movie is good. Unfortunately, the movie isn’t as good.

A tie-in that didn’t work for me:

Percy Jackson and the Sea of Monsters – Rick Riordan

The Sea of Monsters (Percy Jackson and the Olympians, #2)

Oh god, where to start. No one cares about a book with people posing on the front. The cover doesn’t hint at any of the awesomeness that is within the book. The only reason people would read this edition is for Logan Lerman.

So movie tie-ins… a hit or a miss?
